Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain denitrification catalyst a higher activity and strongness by the procedure in which a porous metal catalyst base is dipped in a filmforming solution containing colloidal silica, then dried, and lastly dipped in an active metal compound solution.
CONSTITUTION: A porous metal catalyst base is subjected to an oxidation treatment and a SO2 treatment, then dipped in colloidal silica, and lastly dried. The dipping and drying operations are repeated 1 to 6 times until a support is obtained. Then, the support is dipped in a vanadium compound solution of vanadyl sulfate, vanadyl oxalate, ammonium metavanadate, etc., to hold the metal compound on the surface of the support. The preferred colloidal silica used includes an acid colloid of pH of 3 to 4.
