Abstract

PURPOSE: To measure a tension sample with high accuracy and rapidly by measuring the sample in a state of mounting the sample on the chuck part in the thickness, width or diameter from a direction orthogonally intercrossing the same by a pair of measuring members contacting the sample or an undulation or optical method.
CONSTITUTION: A sample 1 is inserted between a upper chuck 6 and a lower chuck 7, and located by stoppers 16 and 17, and clamped firmly by means of clamping teeth 6' and 7' through a hydraulic cylinder. The measuring devices 18 and 19 are extruded of their measuring members 18' and 19' and brought into contact with the sample to measure its thickness. The measured value is supplied to a data processor through a magnetic head, and is read out. Then, when the pivot of an automatic tensometer 8 is press-fitted to the upper and lower marked points of the sample and measuring levers 9 and 9' are set on the sample 1, the tension test is automatically started. By these procedures, the measurements of the sample can be performed with high accuracy and rapidly.
