Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound useful for various intermediate materials in high selectivity, by reacting an epoxy-hydrocarbon with an alcohol or phenol using a heteropoly acid group having high activity, stability, and prolonged effect as a catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: In preparing a hydroxyhydrocarbon ether (e.g., 1-allyloxy-3- chloro-2-propanol, etc.) by reacting an epoxyhydrocarbon (e.g., epichlorohydrin, 3,4-epoxy-1-butene, etc.) with an alcohol (e.g., methanol, ethylene glycol, etc.) or a phenol (e.g., phenol, bisphenol A, etc.), a heteropoly acid group (e.g., molybdophosphoric acid, molybdosilicic acid, tungstophosphoric acid, etc.) (preferably 0.1W5wt% based on the raw material) is used as a catalyst.
EFFECT: The reaction is carried out in short time and the catalyst can be reused.
