Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable to carry out the treatment of water with a high accuracy and efficiency, by freely switching and connecting plural structures composed of deep down-flow passage circulating activated sludge-containing water to be treated and also, up-flow passage and flow passage for circulation connected to said passage in series or parallel.
CONSTITUTION: On occasion of high treatment load per unit quantity, it is connected in parallel regardless of supply quantity. That is, the first and second opening and shutting valves 9, 10, are shut and the third opening and shutting valve 12, is opened and then, water to be treated is supplied to the one structure 4 through the supply passages 3, 3a and is circulated. Then, oxygen- containing gas is supplied to both structures 4, 4 from the flow passage D and is supplied to the sedimentation separation apparatus 5 after supplying to the other structure 4 through the supply passage 13. On occasion of low treatment load per unit quantity, treating quantity per hour is redoubled by connecting in seies and treating efficiency is improved. That is, the valves 9, 10 are opened and the valve 12 is shut and then, the water to be treated is treated by both structures 4. Then, treated water is sent to the apparatus 5 and is separated and then, a part of sludge is sent to the return pipe 6 and also, residual sludge is sent to the treating apparatus 7 and moreover, treated water is supplied to the after-treatment apparatus 8.
