Abstract

PURPOSE: To separate the ion exchange resin with good purity, by adding the stages for passing downward stream water and withdrawal through a carrying tube to the separation stage by the upward stream water, in the separation of mixed ion exchange resin.
CONSTITUTION: Two resin transfer pipes 5, 6 which are branched from the collective pipe 9 and consist of a plurality of extraction pipes 10 providing the resin extraction holes, and one collection pipe 9 are installed horizontally in the separation tower 1 with a suitable interval, preferrably about 20W40cm. The upperstream water through the supply and drainage pipes 3, 4, separates the cation exchange resin layer of lower layer and the anion exchange resin layer of upper layer so that the boundary 8 of both resin layers can be located at the middle of the transfer pipes 5 and 6. Next, while downward flowing, the upper anion exchange resin is withdrawn through the carrier pipe 5 together with water at the flow speed corresponding to ≥0.2kg/cm2 pressure drop at the withdrawal part. Next, mixed ion exchange resin is withdrawn through the transfer pipe 6. Thus, the separation of ion exchange resin can be made with good purity.
