Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a thin-film magnetic head superior in wear resistance by connecting a lower magnetic substance substrate to an upper magnetic substance with an interposing glass melt-sticking layer made of a magnetic gap part and then by connecting a nonmagnetic substance substrate, holding the upper magnetic substance, with the same glass melt-sticking layer interposed. CONSTITUTION:In magnetic substance substrate 10, groove 15 is formed and filled with nonmagnetic insulator (glass). On substrate 10, coil 14 made of a conductive substance such as Al is provided by photoetching so that part of it will be positioned over groove 15. Next, thin glass plate 12' is placed at part of coil 14 and upper magnetic substance 11 and nonmagnetic substance substrate 13 adhered with glass, etc., are melt-stuck to plate 12' by pressing. Thus, the magnetic medium sliding surface is made of a substance excellent in wear resistance such as glass to prevent pitching, etc., thereby prolonging the life.
