Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a high strength stainless steel having a specified composition contg. C, N, Si, Mn, Ni, Cr, etc. and undergoing little quality change due to aging.
CONSTITUTION: This stainless steel consists of, (by wt.) C more than 0.04W0.1% C, 0.05W0.2% N, ≤1% Si, 0.3W2% Mn, 6.5Wless than 8% Ni, 16W20% Cr, and the balance Fe and invevitable elements. This steel has high strength and most superior characteristics as a hard material. It controls strain aging, is excellent in comprehesive characteristics such as weldability and corrosion resistance, and undergoes little quality change after manufacture. By adding ≤0.5% one or more among V, Nb, Ti, Mo, etc. each, the comprehensive characteristics as a hard material can be improved furthermore.
