Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a novel variant having resistance to a respiratory reaction inhibiting agent, high energy generation efficiency, and higher productivity of amino acids and other substances by fermentation than that of the parent strain. CONSTITUTION:A variant having high respiratory reaction activity and energy generation efficiency, e.g. Brevibacterium lactofermentum AJ-11082 (FERM-P No. 3840), Brevibacterium flavum AJ-11448 (FERM-P No.5165), etc., is prepared by the conventional induced mutation of bacteria belonging to Brevibacterium genus pref. capable of producing L-glutamic acid, e.g. Brevibacterium lactofermentum ATCC-13869, Brevibacterium flavum AJ=11275, etc. with ultraviolet light irradiation, mutation inducing agent treatment, etc.
