PURPOSE:A variant useful as an amino acid producing bacterium, having high formation efficiency of amino acid against a carbon source and acetic acid demanding properties, belonging to the genus Brevibacterium. CONSTITUTION:A novel variant, e.g., Brevibacterium flavum AJ11277(FERM- P4551), Brevibacterium lactofermentum AJ11280(FERM-P4554), etc., belonging to the genus Brevibacterium, having acetic acid demanding properties, obtained by subjecting Brevibacterium lactofermentium ATCC13869, Brevibacterium flavum ATCC14067, etc. as a parent strain, to ordinary variation induction, e.g., ultraviolet-light irradiation, variation inducer treatment, etc.
