Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a steel sheet with very superior corrosion resistance for tinning by lowering the N content of a low-C Al killed steel and restritcing the B content to a specified range.
CONSTITUTION: A low-C Al killed steel is well deoxidized to inhibit the formation of surface oxide inclusions while keeping the residual Al content 0.02W0.15%. By lowering the N content to ≤ 0.004% and restricting the B content to 0.0005W 0.01%, the corrosion resistance of the steel is considerably enhanced so as to satisfy ISV≤3μg3in2 and ATC≤0.07μA/cm2. This billet is hot rolled, pickled, and cold rolled to a 0.23mm thick strip, which is then annealed, overaged, and temper rolled. Thus, a steel strip with superior corrosion resistance for tinning is obtd. easily.
