Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve synthetic hydraulic power capacity of each stage by improving a hydraulic power capacity at a low pressure side stage during a normal operation of a multistage pump hydraulic turbine with a movable guide vane provided only at the maximum pressure stage.
CONSTITUTION: At this multi stage pump hydraulic turbine, a single stage hydraulic power characteristic of a low pressure stage runner 3, as a whole, is shifted toward the direction where a unit rotating speed is large compared to a single stage hydraulic power characteristic at a high pressure stage 2 for an amount which is proportional to a unit rotating speed ratio at each of the maximum efficiency points of the pump and the hydraulic turbine at the single stage hydraulic power characteristic of a high pressure stage runner 2 with a movable guide vane 15. In this case, by constituting a runner of each stage so that an outer diameter D2 of a blade of the low pressure stage runner 3 is 0.86W0.96 times as large as an outer diameter D4 of a blade of the high pressure stage runner 2, a synthetic hydraulic power characteristic of each stage can be drastically improved at hydraulic turbine power generating operation which especially demands highly efficient operation by adjusting water port opening of a movable guide vane 15 provided only at the high pressure stage.
