Abstract
PURPOSE: To facilitate the installation of the subject collector by a method wherein the radiating portion of a heat pipe having unidirectional characteristic is bent at a predetermined angle relative to the axis of the heating portion and contacted with a heat transmitting medium.
CONSTITUTION: The heating portion 5a of a unidirectional heat pipe 5 is contained in a transparent vacuum cylinder 1, while the radiating portion 5b projecting from the cylinder 1 is bent upwards as a predetermined angle relative to the axis of the heating portion 5a and inserted into the heat transmitting medium contained in a heat accumulating tank 7. The working liquid in the heat pipe 5 is heated and evaporated at the heating portion 5a by the solar radiation, the resulting vapor moves to the radiating portion 5b, where it releases the latent beat to heat the heating medium while being condensed, and the condensate falls down the bent portion. Accordingly, even when the heat pipe 5 is placed almost horizontally, the working liquid condensed in the radiating portion 5b moves into the heating portion 5a to be reheated and re-evaporated by the solar radiation.
