Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable to forge and elongate efficiently bars and pipes etc. as necessary, by combining the inclined surfaces of the left and right ends of the upper and lower opposing support blocks with an anvil with the upper and lower inclined surfaces of the left and right opposing support blocks with an anvil between these inclined surfaces of the left and right ends through links so as to contact each other.
CONSTITUTION: Upper and lower anvil support blocks 3 and 2 are arranged in guide grooves of a frame 1, to which traverse anvil support blocks 10 and 11 are connected with turnable link pair 12 and 13. These devices, in which each anvil is attached to each support block, are arranged in the operation space of an usual vertical type press, and the crosshead 16 of the press and the support block 3 are connected together. When a work 17 is placed between the upper and lower anvils 5 and 4 and pressures P0 are applied with the head 16, the anvils 5 and 4 compress the work 17 with partial pressures P1 from the upper and lower sides. At the same time, the 45 inclined surfaces 6a, 6bW9a, 9b of each support block slide each other, and the remaining pressures P2 are turned to the traverse direction and anvils 14 and 15 compress the work 17 from the left and right sides. These four side compressions make the work 17 reduced efficiently inthe cross-sectional area.
