Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the lowering of quality due to foreign ions in an electrodeposition paint by a method wherein an electrodeposition bath liquid containing a synthetic resin ionically dissolved therein is subjected to the ultrafiltration treatment to be separated into a concentrated solution and a permeated solution and the second concentrated solution obtained by subjecting said permeated solution to the reverse osmosis treatment is treated by an ion exchange.
CONSTITUTION: An electrodeposition paint bath liquid, for example, a solution comprising a thermosetting acrylic resin, an amino compound, amines and an org. solvent is sent to a subtank 3 from a storage tank 1 and at least a portion thereof is sent to an ultrafiltration apparatus 4. Herein, said solution is separated into a concentrated solution and a permeated solution and the concentrated solution containing a high molecular resin and a pigment is returned to the subtank. The permeated solution is sent to a reverse osmosis apparatus 5 to be separated into the second permeated solution and the second concentrated solution the permeated solution is sent to a washing tank 2 to be utilized as a washing water. The second concentrated solution is sent to an ion exchange apparatus 6 and, after foreign ions are removed therefrom, entered the washing tank. The washing water is flooded to the storage tank 1 from the washing tank and a paint liquid is replenished from the subtank. The permeated solution may be occationally used in washing a vertically hung article to be treated.
