Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove harmful ions and impurity materials by ultrafiltering the electrodeposition coating solution at the electrodeposition coating to separate the same to concentrated solution and filtrate, returning the former to the electrodeposition bath and dialyzing the latter with an electrodialysis apparatus having anion and cation exchange membrances.
CONSTITUTION: The coating solution drawn out from an electrodeposition bath 1 to a subtank 2 is sent to an ultrafilter unit 4 where it undergoes ultrafiltration. The concentrated solution is sent to a subtank 8 and a suitable volume of the filtrate is sent to subtank 5 through opening and closing control of a bypass valve 11. Next, the filtrate of the subtank 5 is sent to an electrodialysis apparatus 7 having anion and cation exchange membranes where it is dialyzed. The deionized solution is sent to the subtank 8. The coating solution in the subtank 8 is returned to the electrodeposition bath 1. On the other hand, the dialysis concentrated solution from the dialysis apparatus 7 is sent to the tank 10 then circulated to the dialysis apparatus 7 through the pump 9. When the concentrated solution of the tank 10 reaches a fixed concentration, it is exchanged with fresh solution.
