Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the adhesion and workability by a method wherein a metal pipe is swaged to be a pipe with tapered inside surface, a heat pipe is inserted into an outer pipe and the outer pipe is contracted in diameter, in heat pipe with tapered inside surface for use as rotary shafts of rotary electric machines and the like.
CONSTITUTION: A metal pipe 14 is worked on a taper swaging die 15 to be a metal pipe with tapered outside surface 16, which is then converted to a metal pipe with tapered inside surface 18 by working it on a swaging die 17 provided with a horizontal surface 17a. One of the openings of the metal pipe 18 is drawn to be a cap portion 20, while the other is drawn to be a cap portion 21 with a thin pipe 6. After evacuating the interior of the pipe 18 and injecting a working fluid into the pipe 18, the thin pipe 16 is sealed off to obtain a heat pipe 9A. The heat pipe 9A is inserted into a cylindrical metal pipe 22, which is contracted by a swaging die 17 to adhere the inner and outer pipes 12, 11 to each other. Accordingly, a heat pipe excellent in adhesion and heat-transmitting characteristics can be manufactured easily.
