Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a heat-resisting high-silicon-content stainless steel which comprises prescribed quantities of C, Si, Mn, Cr and Ni, a limited quantity of at least one of Y, Ce and La and the rest of Fe and impurities and undergoes little temper coloration in heating under air and whose metallic luster is maintained despite the heating.
CONSTITUTION: A heat-resisting high-Si-content stainless steel is composed of less than 0.2% of C, 2W5% of Si, less than 2% of Mn, 15W20% of Cr, 8W15% of Ni, 0.1W1% of at least one of Y, Ce and La and the rest of Fe and impurities. The steel undergoes little temper coloration in heating at 500°C or less under air and the metallic luster of the stainless steel is maintained despite the heaing.
