Abstract

PURPOSE: To link a carboxylic acid ester group to the difficulty linkable carbon atom in the α- or β-position to the ether oxygen, by the reaction of an α,β-unsaturated ether compound containing a fluorine atom with an ester of a halogenized formic acid, in the presence of a fluoride.
CONSTITUTION: (a) An α,β-unsaturated ether compound containing a fluorine atom, preferably having a structure of formula I (A, B, and E are Fs, or trifluoromethyls) in the molecule, e.g. CF2=CF-O-C3H7, is reacted with (b) an ester of a halogenized formic acid or an acid halogenide having a carboxylic acid ester group, that is, a compound of formula II or III (X is halogen; R1 is 1W12C alkyl, etc.), e.g. FOC-COOCH3, in the presence of a fluoride, e.g. cesium fluoride, preferably at 80W170°C, to give the object compound of formula IV, etc.
