Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain massive sintered ore of a high strength with the consumption of less fuel by a method in which powdery sintered ore recovered as duff in crushing and screening sintered ore is mixed with a limited amount of mill scale and then sintered.
CONSTITUTION: One hundred pts.wt. powdery sintered core (return ore) recovered in crushing and screening sintered ore is mixed with 5W20pts.wt. mill scale, and then sintered by the usual sintering method, where iron oxide present in the mill scale is reoxidized during the sintering process to produce a reaction heat which contributes to the sintering of the powdery sintered ore so as to enable good sintering to proceed even when the proportion of coke used is low. Thus, a good quality sintered ore having good characteristic for raw material for blast furnace, a high shattering strength, and a low reduction degradability can be obtaind.
