Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain briquettes of high density and high quality by mixing grinding swarf, turning swarf and metal powder for adjusting the composition while agitating and heating without causing oxidation the mixture to remove water and oil, prebriquetting it, and further heating the prebriquettes to a high temp.
CONSTITUTION: Turning swarf cut to ≤20mm appropriate length are mixed into grinding swarf in ≥15% amount as aggregate to the total amount, and an adequate amount of cast iron dust or the like is further added as a material for adjusting the compsn. This mixture is demagnetized by a known method, mixed, and agitated to make the component uniform. Primary heating is then carried out at about 200W 300°C in a nonoxidative heating furnace to remove water, oil, etc., and the mixture is prebriquetted. The prebriquettes are subjected to secondary heating at about 600W800°C and briquetting to necessary weight and size. The resulting briquettes are used as auxiliary material for starting material for iron manufacture, castings, etc., contributing to the utilization of resources and prevention of environmental pollution.
