Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable multisheet successive copying, by uniformly exposing a photoreceptor to blue light in a step subsequent to red development, and raising the surface potential of a region corresponding to black without lowering that of a region corresponding to red.
CONSTITUTION: Charging and exposure are conducted in steps 1, 2, 3, and region Pb is developed with red toner 7 in step 4, and then, the photoreceptor surface is uniformly exposed to blue light through blue filter 7 in step 5. As a result, photoconductive layer 3 has no sensitivity to blue light and transmits it, photoconductive layer 2 has sensitivity to blue light, and charge of layer 2 of black corresponding region Pa is discharged, the photoreceptor surface potential of region Pa becomes negatively high affected by all the charge potential of layer 3. On the other hand, in red corresponding region Pb, since the layer of toner 7 is present, the photoreceptor surface potential does not drop, but remains positively high, thus permitting multisheet successive copying to be effected by keeping the photoreceptor surface potential sufficiently high.
