Abstract

PURPOSE:To devise the uniformity of the characteristics of a lead battery in which is used a paste added with a fluorine resin dispersion, by raising the density of the coated material before drying higher than that of the paste before coating. CONSTITUTION:A paste mainly made of lead powder, water, sulfuric acid, and fluorine resin dispersion, is filled in a lead alloy grid 7 at a filling station 1. The thus-filled grid is transferred by a conveyor belt 2 to a drying station which is not shown in the drawing. In this case, the density of the paste kept by a grid 8 after paste coating is higher by at least 0.1g/cc than that before paste coating and must be greater than 3.5g/cc. In order to achieve this, it is preferable that the density before paste coating is less than 3.5g/cc so as to make the coating work easier and that of the coated material is at least 3.6g/cc by pressing a cloth belt 4 against a plate 9 after paste coating to dewater the applied paste. The cloth belt 4 is revolved by a driving roller 3 and dried in a dryer 5.
