Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of electrode due to the omission of material and the reduction of life due to an internal short by dipping the electrode in a solution in which resin is dissolved, in water next as it is wet with the solvent and drying it last. CONSTITUTION:A lead alloy grid is coated with paste prepared with lead power, water and sulfuric acid, dried and matured to obtain an unformed base electrode. Resin solutions of various concentration are prepared with ABS resin and solvent such as tetrahydrofuran, the unformed base electrode is dipped in the solution several seconds. Next, the electrode is drawn out, dipped in water immediately as it is wet with the solvent and dried last. When dipped in water, a network structure is formed on the surface of electrode. In this way, the deterioration of discharge characteristic can be minimized by addition of a simple process such as a dipping in water to prolong the life of electrode.
