Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the terminal mounting onto the lead terminal mounting part of a foam metal in which an active material is filled by removing the active material from the lead terminal mounting part to expose the core member and impregnate a binding agent into the core member. CONSTITUTION:A foam metal having a lead terminal mounting part 3 is fitted directly with a paste of active material to form an electrode. In mounting a lead terminal 17 to the mounting part 3 by the foam metal by spot welding, the active material attached to the surface of the terminal mounting part 3 is removed so as to expose the core member by means of such as a softening agent, the exposed core member then impregnated with a binding agent. Then the binding agent on the surface of the terminal mounting part 3 is removed by means of the high pressure air blowing on the moisture absorption, so that the electric resistance of the terminal mounting part 3 is prevented from increasing due to the binding agent film. Thus a prominent mounting of the lead terminal can be achieved.
