Abstract
PURPOSE:To equalize an electric discharge energy of a device and improve its machining efficiency, by applying a machining pulse from a switching element to a machining gap through a condenser and flowing a charge current to the condenser in the machining gap as a machining current. CONSTITUTION:Between a machining electrode 2 and a gate turn off thyristor 7, which is the switching element in a machining pulse power unit 5, a condenser 6 is connected in series, and a machining pulse from the machining pulse power unit 5 is applied to a machining gap 4 through the condenser 6. Accordingly, when the thyristor 7 is turned on, the condenser 6 is charged by the machining pulse, and said charge current simultaneously flows in the machining gap 4 as a main machining current to perform an electric discharge machining work by the charge current to the condenser 6. A resistor 8 is provided as a discharging resistor for discharging the electric charge to the condenser 6 after the machining work performed by the charge current.
