Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the detection precision for the tightening stress of a bolt by providing a magnetic-field detecting element, which detects a magnetic field in parallel to the surface of the head of the bolt, on the surface of the bolt head and by increasing variation in magnetic flux by the output of the magnetic-field detecting element.
CONSTITUTION: As constituent elements of a magnetic sensor, magnetic core 4, exciting coil 5, detection coil 6 and magnetic-field detection coil 7 are adjacently provided on the surface of the head of bolt 1. Then, AC electric power source 8 is so controlled that once exciting coil 5 is excited by AC electric power source 8, voltage detector 9 obtains a constant voltage from detection coil 6. Magnetic-field detection coil 7, on the other hand, detects magnetizing force on the surface of the head of bolt 1. Therefore, as bolt tightening stress operates and magnetic characteristics of bolt 1 vary, the output voltage of detection coil 6 and that of magnetic-field detection coil 7 are multiplied by each other at multiplier 12, whose output voltage appears at a variation rate large for variation in magnetic characteristic. Measuring this by indicator 13 can detect bolt axial force with high precision.
