Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the measuring accuracy by making the hysteresis loss larger than the over current loss with the primary coil of the magnetic sensor utilizing iron loss excited by the square wave AC voltage.
CONSTITUTION: The AC power to the primary coil 4 causes the magnetic flux outputted from the magnetic sensor 3 to flow in parallel along the stress of the magnetic material 1 to form the closed magnetic circuit through the magnetic core 6 of the sensor 3. Therefore, the magnetic characteristic of the material 1 varies with the stress thereof. The iron loss is converted to the stress by the iron loss detection part 14 composed of the secondary coil 5 of the sensor for extracting the corresponding secondary voltage, the voltmeter 8, the power meter 9 and the arithmetic circuit 10, where the stress is indicated on the indicator 11. In this case, when the square wave AC voltage is applied on the coil 4, the hysteresis loss exceeds the over current loss so much that the hysteresis loss in the iron loss directly related to the coercive force related with the material 1 is allowed to be detected thereby improving the measuring accuracy.
