Abstract

PURPOSE: To compensate the reduction in the measuring accuracy due to the temperature change by superposing the DC voltage upon the AC voltage from an oscillator and by detecting the DC resistance of a measuring coil so that the value of a feedback impedance may be adjusted by the use of the DC voltage obtained.
CONSTITUTION: An AC voltage is impressed from an oscillator 1 upon an amplifier 2 which is composed of a feedback impedance ZS, a parallel circuit and a measuring coil 3. Moreover, a DC voltage is impressed from a DC power source 5 so that an AC magnetic field is generated from the measuring coil 3. This magnetic field intersects a metal material 4 to be measured so that the output voltage corresponding to the distance between the metal material 4 and the coil 3 is generated from the amplifier 2. This output voltage is converted by a detector 7 into the DC voltage, which is recorded and displayed at a terminal 8.
