Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable measurement of small error even if there is a gap between a magnetic sensor and a ferromagnetic substance, by determining the stress of the ferromagnetic substance in terms of the output voltage across a magnetic flux detection coil with a prescribed phase difference from the exciting current of a magnetism sensor.
CONSTITUTION: When the excitation coil 9 of a magnetism sensor 7 is energized, a magnetic circuit is composed of the sensor 7 and a ferromagnetic substance 11 and a voltage which varies depending on the stress of the substance is produced across a magnetic flux detection coil 10. The sensor 7 is eqivalent to a transformer with a load consisting of an inductance L and a resistance R and connected to the coil 10. The inductance L greatly varies depending on the gap between the sensor 7 and the ferromagnetic substance 11 but the resistance R does not vary depending on the gap. On the other hand, the change in the inductance L due to that in the stress of the substance 11 is small but the change in the resistance R due to that in the stress is large. A voltage, which is detected by a voltage detector 14 and whose phase is equal to or different by 90° from that of an exciting current detected by a current detector 13, is selected through a selector circuit 15. This results in enabling accurate stress measurement of small error independently of the gap.
