Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a pigment-coated phosphor which is used for cathode ray tubes and exhibits good dispersion of the phosphor in a phosphor slurry solution and less peeling of pigment particles, by a method wherein the surface of a pigment- coated phosphor is coated with paraffin.
CONSTITUTION: A phosphor such as Y2O2S/Eu,ZnS/Ag,ZnS/Cu,Al, a pigment such as red iron oxide, ultramarine, or chromium oxide and 0.001W0.2wt% (based on the wt. of the phosphor) of a paraffin emulsion are mixed with deionized water. The mixt. is ball-milled for several min. to disperse and mix them. The mixed liquid is placed in a vessel, stirred for several hr, washed with deionized water and filtered. The product is dried at a temp. of not higher than 100°C to obtain a pigment-coated phosphor coated with the paraffin.
EFFECT: Phosphor screen can be obtd. which is dense, and has high luminescent brightness and good contrast.
