Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove cheaply and easily a surfactant contained in sewage by mixing air into the sewage to foam the sewage and separating the foamed sewage into foams and water.
CONSTITUTION: Surfactant-contg. sewage is introduced into foaming tank 2 from duct 1, and air is swallowed up in the sewage and mixed to induce foaming action when the sewage is sucked in joined pipes 31, 32 and flows out. As the sewage passes through pipe 31, foams grow larger in pipe 31. The grown foams-contg. sewage is introduced into duct 4 from one end of pipe 32 and separated into water and foams with valve (tees) 6 connected to duct 4 in separation tank 5. The separated water stores in tank 5 through conduit 7 and is taken out of drainpipe 9. On the other hand, the foams are moved forward in foam pipe 8 by the pressure, etc. due to the dropping force of the sewage, and the residual water is fed into tank 5 from diverging point 10 through conduit 11. The surfactant-contg. foams are then pushed out of the outlet of duct 12 into defoaming tank 13 and treated with a defoaming agent from tank 14.
