Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a conveyor which cools high-temp. steel pipes down to <=Ar1 point and produces strong and tough steel pipes by providing a spray type cooler which cools said steel pipes down to <=Ar1 point in combination with a conveyance line for steel pipes. CONSTITUTION:A steel pipe come out of a pipe polisher 12 is fed by a kick-out device 13 onto the line of conveying roller rows 14, and during its transferring, it is cooled under controlling by a spray type cooler 16, after which it is introduced into a reheating furnace 15. In the device 16, >=3 or >=2 pieces of nozzles 3 are disposed into plural stages on the circumference in a manner as to enclose the steel pipe 1 when viewed from the axial center direction of the steel pipe 1 between the roller rows 14. The rate of supply of cooling water is regulated to <=4m<3>/min.m<2> in density of water flow. It is more preferable to provide the nozzles 3 within the same perpendicular plane, and they should be disposed in axial symmetry.
