Abstract
PURPOSE:To cool wire rod of every size and of every kind of steel under optimum conditions, by constituting the apparatus, which is used in cooling hot rolled annular wire rod, of an air-cooling and conveying apparatus, of a cooling and conveying apparatus using liq. bath, a washing apparatus, both the latter being arranged in parallel with the former apparatus, and of conveyors which connect these apparatus. CONSTITUTION:A cooling apparatus for hot rolled wire rod S, which has been formed into ring shape, is constituted of an air-cooling and conveying apparatus 1, and a cooling and conveying apparatus 4 using liq. bath, a wasing apparatus, both the latter being arranged in parallel with the former apparatus 1. Between the former and the latter apparatus are installed a movable conveyer 5 and an auxiliary conveyer 10. Low carbon steel wire rod or hard wire rod of a small diameter, which is cooled at a relatively small cooling rate, is cooled with cold air sprayed by the air-cooling and conveying apparatus 1 while being conveyed by a conveyer 3. Hard annular wire rod of a large diameter is placed on a conveyer 6 through the movable conveyer 5. It is then liq.- cooled by the liq.-bath-cooling and conveying apparatus 4 equipped with a cooling tank 7 which is filled with temp.-controlled cooling liq. After that it is washed by the washing apparatus 8, and is transferred to a bundling apparatus 9 by the auxiliary conveyer 10.
