Abstract

PURPOSE: To cool a steel sheet in whole uniformly without excessive cooling of the back end of the steel sheet in continuous cooling of the advancing sheet, by spraying cooling medium, and by decreasing the cooling capacity of the prescribed nozzles after the back end of the steel sheet having passed the inclined nozzles.
CONSTITUTION: A steel sheet 2 to be cooled is transferred on rollers 1 in the direction of an arrow into a cooling unit, where it is cooled with cooling medium such as cooling water and compressed gas sprayed onto the upper and under surfaces through the first, the second, the third...nozzles. The first nozzles 5, 6, which are inclined, prevent the cooling medium from running away in the direction opposite to the advancing direction of the steel sheet.
