Abstract

PURPOSE: To greatly improve the passableness of the strip, and to improve the stability and quality of the operation, by a specified angle inclining the injection angle of the lower spray nozzle toward the downstream of the flow of the strip, and by injecting the cooling water against the strip.
CONSTITUTION: The strip 1 is conveyed on the hot run table roller 2 from the right to the left along the direction of the arrow A, from the mill toward the coiler. A series of lower spray headers 3 for supplying the cooling water are installed among the hot run table rollers 2; the cooling water is injected from the nozzles 4 of these spray headers 3, inclining by an angle θ against the conveying direction of the strip, that is, toward the downstream of the conveying direction, within the range between the arrow B and the arrow C. The injection angle θ is tanged in about 5W30 degrees. If the angle is smaller than 5 degrees, the strip is floated, and if the angle is larger than 30 degrees, the cooling capacity for the strip is lowered, hence these cases are both undesirable.
