Abstract
PURPOSE: To cool rapidly and without scattering the steel sheet, by cooling the upper surface of the steel sheet with the cooling water of laminar flow and the lower surface of the steel sheet with the spraying of cooling water and by feeding both of the above cooling water respectively under the prescribed pressure and while regulating the flow rate, when the thick steel sheet is cooled on line.
CONSTITUTION: The thick steel sheet 3 which has been hot rolled with the rolling mill 1, is cooled with water at the cooling zone 22. At this time, the upper surface of the steel sheet is cooled with the cooling water from the laminar flow nozzles 4 and the lower surface of the steel sheet is cooled with the cooling water from the spray nozzles 6. Both of the above cooling water are branched from the same duct and the water to be fed to the spray nozzles 6 is sent to the flow rate regulating valves 17a and 17b under a pressure of 2W5 kg/cm2 as it is without reducing its pressure. The above cooling water is sent to the header groups 7 for the spray nozzles 6 while regulating the flow rate of cooling water according to the thickness, temperature, etc. of the steel sheet 3. The water to be fed to the laminar flow nozzles 4 is decompressed further with the secondary reducing valve 12 after having been decompressed with the primary reducing valves 11a and 11b, and is sent to the header groups 5 under a pressure of 1kg/cm2 after the flow rate has been regulated with the flow rate regulating valve 13
