Abstract
PURPOSE:To easily obtain a magnetic recording body provided with superior performance as a vertical magnetization recording body by forming a Co-Cr type magnetic recording medium layer by an ion plating method on a backing material. CONSTITUTION:A bell-jar 3 is removed and a backing material 4 and a Co-Cr type alloy as a vapor source 7 are mounted respectively, after which the bell-jar 3 is mounted and the inside of the bell-jar 3 is evacuated, thence a gas such as argon, helium or the like is introduced through a lead-in pipe 9, and the Co-Cr type alloy 7 is heated by a heater 8; at the same time, discharge potential is applied to a discharge electrode 6. The evaporating particles from the source 7 are accelerated by this discharge induction, and the layer of Co-Cr type is easily formed on the backing material 4 at a high speed. Since the evaporating particles are deposited by assuming magnetization easy axis in the direction perpendicular to the surface of the material 4, the medium layer formed provides the preformance suitable for vertical magnetization recording.
