Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a battery of a high energy density, which has a cathode made of calcium, by using electrolyte prepared by dissolving hexafluorophosphate into a solvent mixture of acetonitrile and dimethylformamide. CONSTITUTION:A plate prepared by molding and rolling metal calcium is pressed and fixed to a nickel mesh, thereby a negative electrode 1 being made. A mixture consisting of electrolytic manganese dioxide, acetylene black used as a conductive agent, and polytetrafluoroethylene powder used as a binding agent is pressed and fixed to a nickel mesh, thereby an anode 3 being made. A separator 5 is interposed between the cathode 1 and the anode 3, thereby a battery is constituted. An electrolyte 7 for the battery is prepared by dissolving a hexafluorophosphate in a mixture solvent of acethonitrile and dimethylformamide. As the above hexafluorophosphate, lithium hexafluorophosphate, sodium hexafluorophosphate, potassium hexafluorophosphate or the like is used.
