Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve performance of a vehicle by coupling a flywheel fitted axially to a crank shaft to a centrifugal clutch, by making the flywheel rotate unitarily with the shaft at the time of low-speed rotation and by making the same free at the time of high-speed rotation. CONSTITUTION:One end of the centrifugal weight 4 of the centrifugal clutch 3 is fitted axially to a housing fixed to the crank shaft 1, while a friction plate 5 is stretched on the inside surface of the centrifugal weight 4 and actuated inwardly by a spring 6. On the other hand, the flywheel 7 is fitted axially to the crank shaft 1 and is constituted so that the friction plate 5 of the clutch 3 contacts with the inner- peripheral surface 8 thereof. When the rotation of the crank shaft 1 is unstable in the condition of low-speed rotation, the clutch 3 is depressed by the flywheel 7, the flywheel 7 is rotated unitarily with the shaft 1, and the rotation of the shaft 1 is made stable by inertia thereof. When the rotation of the shaft 1 is increased, the wheel 7 is made free, thereby the shaft 1 rotates without the wheel 7, and thus the response of the engine is improved by the inertia of the wheel 7.
