Abstract
PURPOSE: A cation solid electrolyte, consisting of an alkali metallic titanate of the hollandite type structure, expressed by a specific general formula, and having a very high electric conductivity.
CONSTITUTION: A cation solid electrolyte expressed by the formula (A is alkali metal; B is Mg, Ni, CoII, Zn, Cu, Al, Fe, Cr, CoIII or Ga; X and Y are 0.5W3 respectively; Z is 5W8). Preferably, A is K or a solid solution of K and Li or K and Na, and B is Mg or Al. The electric conductivity is reduced if X and Y are beyond the range described above. Althrough the electric conductivity is obtained from any shape of the electrolyte if crystalline, a crystal in which a plane perpendicular to the crystallographic C axis is grown is most preferred. The crsytal can be prepared by the calcining or melting method, but the flux method using potassium molybdate, etc. as a fulx is preferred.
