Abstract

PURPOSE:To change the supply pressure of an electric discharge machining fluid in accordance with working speed by a method wherein there are provided a working speed detector and a pressure regulating valve. CONSTITUTION:Being accompanied with the progress of machining a workpiece 12 by an electrode 14, the detector 32 of the electrode location detects the location of the electrode and inputs signals in a controller 34. The controller 34 calculates the quantity of progress of machining due to the detected signals and inputs control signals to a pressure regulating controller 36. The pressure regulating valve 24 is regulated due to the cntrol signals to gradually increase the injection pressure of the machining fluid from a nozzle 18 in proportion to the increase of the quantity of progress of machining. According to the method described above, the sludge, which tends to accumulate between the workpiece and the electrode accompanied by progress of machining, is easily discharged to make the stable electric discharge machining possible.
