Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a highly tenaceous, sound weld zone free from weld defect with high efficiency by enlarging the length of protrusion of a small-diameter composite wire and performing vertical position multilayer welding at high-current density by using CO2 shield gas.
CONSTITUTION: A small-diameter composite wire having 1.2W2.0mm diameter in which the sectional area of the part of combined fluxes and iron powders occupies 30W35% of the total sectional area of the wire is used. The length of protrusion of the wire is made to 35W70mm and CO2 gas or mixed gas of CO2 gas and Ar gas is used as a shield gas. The first layer is welded at 220W330A/mm2 current density, and the second and subsequent pass is welded at 230W450A/mm2 current density and at higher current density than that for the first layer. At this time, vertical position welding is performed with layer numbers of at least ≥2 passes in the one side and ≥3 passes in the total of both sides.
