Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the characteristic of response, by providing a valve made up of an elastic member which is deformed by the flow of a magnetic fluid, and by providing a magnetic field control mechanism for causing the magnetic fluid to flow, and by using the control mechanism to regulate the clearance between the valve and a valve seat.
CONSTITUTION: A valve seat 6 is provided with a solenoid 7 around magnetic poles 8, 9. Magnetic flux extends from the magnetic pole 8 to the other 9 across a valve 10. A magnetic closed circuit is formed around the valve seat 6. A magnetic fluid 17 is provided in a valve closer 12 and sealed up with an elastic member 16. When a magnetic field is generated between the magnetic poles 8, 9 by supplying electricity from terminals 11, the magnetic fluid 17 in the valve closer 12 is attracted so that the fluid approaches the valve seat opening 22. The elastic member 16 is pushed and expanded by the force of the attraction so that the valve closer 12 changes the passage area of the valve seat opening 22 to control the rate of flow between the closer 12 and the valve seat 6.
