Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a motive power by a method wherein compressed air in an air tank is selectively introduced into each cylinder by change-over operations of solenoid valves attached to each cylinder so as to reciprocate pistons.
CONSTITUTION: The pressure of air in a compression tank 16 connected to an external compressor is maintained, for instance, at about 7kg/cm2 and the tank 16 is connected to each of cylinders 18W21 through the solenoid valves 7W10 attached to the cylinders 18W21, respectively. The valves 7W10 are selectively operated by a distributor 6 supplied with electric power from a battery 1. Start-up of an engine is effected by turning on a starting switch 3 to drive a d.c. motor 4, while the rotation number of the distributor 6 is regulated in accordance with that of the motor 4 through gearing 5. The starting of the engine causes a crankshaft 23 to rotate, whereby a three-phase rectifier 11 and a compressor 12 are driven through a belt trasmission mechanism 15, and the compressed air generated is supplied to the tank 16.
