Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a highly sintered magnetic material easy to form, having high effective magnetic permeability and suitably applicable to the core of a magnetic head by adding ≥1 kinds of platinum group elements to a magnetic material of a sintered body consisting of powder of a Fe-Al-Si mother alloy and Fe powder.
CONSTITUTION: Fine powder of a Fe-Al-Si mother alloy contg. a platinum group element is mixed with finely powdered Fe so that Al, Si and the platinum group element are finally contained in 3W8wt%, 3W12wt% and 0.01W2.5wt%, respectively. The mixture is molded and sintered at a high temp. such as 1,275°C in a hydrogen atmosphere. The resulting sintered body is magnetically annealed at about 1,100°C in a hydrogen atmosphere to obtain a magnetic material with high effective magnetic permeability.
