Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the title material of a specific compsn. contg. Ce, Cu, Co and one or more out of Zr, Hf, Nb and Ta which material maintains its high coercive force and has superior (BH)max, Br, etc. even if the Cu content is low and the Fe content high.
CONSTITUTION: This permanent magnet material has a compsn. consisting of, by wt., Ce; 28W38%, Cu; 5W17%, one or more out of Zr, Hf, Nb and Ta; 0.2W5%, and Co: 40W66.8%. The Co may be replaced with Fe≤20%. Raw material metals blended in a desired ratio are high frequency melted in Ar or a vacuum and alloyed. This alloy ingot is coarsely pulverized and finely pulverized to about 4W6μ particles. This fine powder is then compression molded to a desired shape in a magnetic field with a die press so devised that a good orientation property is obtd., followed by sintering in an Ar or H2 atmosphere, soln. heat treatment, and heat treatment at 350W700°C.
