Abstract

PURPOSE: To assist in mixture formation and combustion by injecting pump compressed air from a nozzle into a cylinder through a space between an intake valve and a valve seat to form a strong flow of air.
CONSTITUTION: A portion of air flowing at the downstream side of a throttle valve 11 is compressed by a pump 9 and hardly jetted from a nozzle 6 through between an intake valve 4 and an intake valve seat 5 into a cylinder 2. Thus, a strong flow of air is formed inside the cylinder 2 and this flow also remains during the compression stroke. In this case, when the nozzle is directed eccentrically to the axis of the cylinder 2, a strong turning flow of air is obtained.
