Abstract

PURPOSE: To cause a mixture to flow and improve its igniting property and combustion velocity, by providing an injection nozzle in the wall of a cylinder near the bottom dead center of a piston and by opening the injection nozzle to inject compressed air when the piston reaches the vicinity of the bottom dead center.
CONSTITUTION: An injection nozzle 3 is provided in the wall of a cylinder 1 at or near the bottom dead center of a piston 2 which is caused to slide in the cylinder. Compressed air is injected slightly upward in the direction of a tangent on the cylinder 1 through the nozzle 3. The nozzle is connected to an air pump 9 through a compressed feed pipe 11. The air pump is driven by an engine. A mixture introduced into the cylinder 1 in each suction stage is spirally swirled by the air injected through the nozzle 3. The mixture is ignited and burned in the expansion stage of the engine after the compression stage.
