Abstract

PURPOSE:To furnish the thermal recording paper fitted for high-speed recording by compounding phenylhydrazide derivative of carboxylic acid as a color-forming promoting agent in a recording layer. CONSTITUTION:In the thermal recording paper composed of colorless or lightly- colored organic dye and of phenolic material developing colors in reaction to a leuco compound is compounded a compound formed of a leuco compound and of the phenylhydrazide derivative of carboxylic acid, such as caproic acid, enanthic acid and undecanoic acid, which is a material promoting the color-forming property of the organic acid. Since the temperature to start the color forming can be lowered by the compounding of such a color-forming agent, the color-forming can be performed even with little thermal energy. Accordingly, the thermal recording paper can be made adequate for high-speed recording. In addition, it is preferable to use such carboxylic acid as having six or more carbons as the color-forming promoting agent.
