Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:7-Acetylspiro [ benzo[ b ]furan-2 ( 3H ), 1'-cyclopropan ] -3-one expressed by formula I.
USE: A medicine, having an inhibitory action on gastric juice secretion, an anti-inflammatory action, an analgesic action, etc. with low toxicity, and useful as an antiulcer agent, an anti-inflammatory agent, an analgesic agent, etc. against diseases, e.g. an ulcer of the stomach or duodenum, acute or chronic gastritis, lumbago, arthritis, etc. The dose is 1W20mg/kg body weight/day in the case or the oral administration as a remedy to a patient with the ulcer of the stomach or duodenum divided into one to 3 fractions.
PROCESS: A compound, e.g. α-[(6-acetyl-2-methoxycarbonylphenyl)oxy]-γ-butyrolactone, of formula II (R is lower alkyl) is decarboxylated in the presence of an organic base, e.g. 1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]-7-undecene, and a decarboxylating catalyst, e.g. NaCl, in a suitable solvent, preferably in an inert atmosphere, at 140W 160°C to give the comound of formula I.
